Fans of the fairway are invited to swing into action to raise money for Martin House Children’s Hospice and sign up to its annual Golf Day.
The event, at Wetherby Golf Club, takes place on Friday 6 September, and the hospice is calling for teams of four to sign up.
Maddie Massey, events manager at Martin House, said: “Our Golf Day is always popular, and a great day out for a group of friends, family or as a team day for colleagues, while raising money for an important cause.”
The day starts at 10am with bacon butties at the clubhouse, before teams of four set off on a shotgun start round of golf.
Golfers also get halfway house refreshments, plus entry into mini games including nearest the pin, nearest the line and a chipping competition.
The day will be rounded off with a drinks’ reception and three-course dinner at the clubhouse, along with a prize giving and online and live auctions.
Maddie added: “We’d like to thank Wetherby Golf Course, who offer us their amazing facilities free of charge every year, our headline sponsor Retail Response, and our drinks reception sponsor GMI Construction.
“It costs around £9 million a year to run Martin House, so their support means more of the money raised will go to providing care to families.”
Martin House cares for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions from across West, North and East Yorkshire. Its services include planned respite stays, emergency and symptom control days, end of life care and bereavement support for families.
Every year it cares for more than 440 families, along with a further 150 bereaved families, who have access to medical support from its team of specialist doctors 24/7.
