Sandy Lodge Golf Club
The site was chosen primarily because of its sandy soil and excellent drainage, and as a result, the course is open year-round and enjoys a reputation of being playable even in the most extreme weather conditions. The course takes advantage of the area’s natural terrain while making use of heather, mounding, and strategically placed bunkers, challenging players of all ages and skill levels..
The Club has continued to invest heavily in its main assets in recent years and has unrivalled practice facilities which include a 12 bay driving range, practice bunker, chipping areas and a large putting green, all of which are immediately in front of the Clubhouse.
Sandy Lodge hosted the English Senior Womens’ Championship in April 2014 and is a Regional Open Qualifying venue between 2015 and 2019.
At a recent visit, Michael Harris, the editor of Golf Monthly said “ We are all very impressed with the course and clubhouse” and the comment “I’d really like to be a member here” was uttered a few times on the way round and the journey back home.
Visitors & Society Golf
At our golf club we welcome all visitors and hope you enjoy your time here.
The understated elegance of the front entrance welcomes each visiting society to Sandy Lodge Golf Club. The south-facing Clubhouse has many French doors which open out to a lovely flowered patio overlooking the putting green and practice ground. The new lower lounge, with its tables and large screen TV, provide a perfect place to unwind and enjoy a drink while watching the final groups reach the 18th green. The food includes everything from simple sandwiches to four-course meals, and the quality will always leave you smiling.
The newly re-furbished entry hall displays photos and paintings of past captains and members, and it sports a lighted trophy case that proudly displays the many awards for the members’ competitions. The French doors at the left of the picture lead to the warmly decorated dining room and comfortable bar.
Clubhouse
The original club house was enlarged in 1997 and as a result offered increased benefits to both members and visitors. The enlarged kitchen and dining room facilities enabled us to offer excellent catering and over the years many memorable events have been held.
The increased bar area allows for the members to enjoy refreshment and snacks whilst a more spacious area is reserved for visitors. Both have access to the large patio where refreshments can be taken. The Club House has recently undergone major renovation and redecoration which included new
carpeting, curtains, furnitureand lighting.
