Surrey Girls Make It The Double!

Surrey Girls Make it the Double at Bush Hill Park Golf Club

Surrey’s Junior Girls golf team romped home yesterday to win Junior County Week at Bush Hill Park Golf Club in Middlesex.   This makes a grand double for Surrey Women’s golf as it follows on from them winning County Week back in June.  Surrey ladies golf really does rock!

The team was made up of 9 players drawn from seven different clubs in Surrey.  The team Captain, Canine Screene from Croham Hurst led out her players Jess Adams (Burhill), Rafiah Banday (Royal Mid-Surrey), Ella Hammond-Baveystock(Wentworth), Olivia Horsford (Wimbledon Park), Ellie Lace (Royal Mid-Surrey), Sarah Mardani (Windlesham), Gabrielle Shacklady (Reigate Hill) and Ellen Yates (Windlesham) beating Middlesex and Hampshire on the first 2 days.  They then lost 3-4 to Sussex on day two but needed a strong finish in the last match against Kent as Sussex were similarly placed having lost to Hampshire.  The Surrey girls didn’t disappoint and rose to the challenge in style on the final day beating Kent 7-0 to win the trophy.  To top the day Gabby Shacklady had a hole in one and Rafiah continued her recent successes by winning all four of her games.

Sally Parrish, SLCGA Captain is absolutely thrilled with her team and said: “I am very proud of what the girls’ achieved this week and it’s so exciting to have both our teams win their respective County Weeks.  I can’t congratulations them enough – the girls this week have shown great ability and staying power   which can only lead to greater successes in the future”.
