IMG Junior World Championships Qualifier 13-14 & 15-18 years – Maylands Golf Club

What a difference a day makes!

Overcast, cold and windy weather made things slightly trickier for the older age groups on Day 2 of the IMG Academy Junior World Championships Qualifier.

15-18 Boys

Teddy Hall fired a fine 73 off the white tees, the round of the day, to win the Boys 15-18 Division by a clear four strokes from Ryan Jones and Lewis Beeden, respectively, who required a countback to split their 77s, with George Johnson taking the fourth and final qualifying place a shot further back.

15-18 Girls

The girls 15-18 Division also saw a standout performance and a 4-shot victory for Julia Kerrigan, after her 76 topped the field, with Luca Thompson taking the runner-up spot – both girls made the BJGT Team. Hrithika Bhugvandeen and Ciara Egan needed a countback to separate their 86s, with Hrithika having the better back 9.

13-14 Boys

Jack Lee secured his place on the team bound for San Diego by winning the Boys 13-14 Division, but only by a single shot from Alex Marshall after rounds of 81 and 82 (off the white tees), respectively, with Tyler Weaver (84) taking the final place in the age group.
Overall, a great two days at Maylands Golf Club – we very much appreciated all the help that we received, and the snacks and water for all the players went down very well! It’s always a pleasure to visit a club that is truly welcoming to juniors and their families!
The BJGT takes a bit of a break before returning to action with a regular tour competition, at Bourn GC on 5 May, but first up is our first ever affiliated event, taking place in Wales at Swansea Bay Golf Club, on 21 April.
