Ufford Park Hosts Fifth Disabled British Open Event

The winner of the gross prize this year was Ashley Harris, with Brad Smith picking up the nett award.

Ufford Park Woodbridge Hotel, Golf and Spa hosted its fifth Disabled British Open in September 2018, which saw 25 golfers take to the course as part of the annual two-day championship.

The Disabled British Open is open to participants from across the globe with a recognised disability or impairment. This includes amputees and wheelchair golfers as well as those with learning, hearing or visual impairments.

Handicaps of the competitors range from three to 28 and seven of the participants were playing off of single figures!

The golfers were once again impressed by the facilities at Ufford Park, with the course boasting a fleet of 16 buggies along with storage and charging facilities. The condition of the greens allowed golfers to travel on the putting surface with their mobility buggies.

Volunteers from the club assisted the participants with caddying, ball spotting and bunker raking.

The hotel, access and catering facilities at Ufford Park are also well suited for those with disabilities, with the hotel recently investing in a wheelchair accessible picnic table on the terrace of The Park Bar and Restaurant.

Prizes for the Disabled British Open are awarded to the overall gross and nett winners, as well as additional prizes for both the different disability groups and handicap ranges.
