Chris Gane (LeftHanded Golf at Silvermere) shot a three-under-par 67* to win the Nelson Trophy Pro-Am at St. George’s Hill Golf Club for the third year in a row.

His birdie on the 18th secured a one stroke victory over regular rival Guy Woodman (ProAgenda.com) and added a useful £2,000 to Gane’s haul for 2018.

The third win in three years was particularly sweet for Gane, having been pipped to the winning post in the recent CK Group PGA Southern Professional Championship at Kings Hill earlier in the week. The Surrey star commented: “As usual, St. George’s Hill was in fabulous condition, the weather was ideal and the day itself ran perfectly.”

Gane continued, “We all owe many thanks to St George’s Hill for laying on another excellent day’s golf for all of the players, and also to Ross Marshall and YourGolfTravel for providing another fantastic prize fund for us Professionals to play for.”

Three-under at the turn, Gane’s back nine started with a bogey but he repaired that with a birdie at the 12th, only to drop another at the 14th. A terrific birdie up the 18th secured his one stroke victory over Woodman, with Adam Wootton (Oxford Golf Centre), Stuart Cartwright (World of Golf London) and James Ablett (Lee-on-the-Solent), all in third spot on level par 70.

In the team event, Billy Hemstock led Andrew Selby’s team of amateurs to both a three point victory over Cartwright’s team from Precision Golf and the lion’s share of the impressive prize table.
