Richmond Park Golf Course Celebrates Royal Opening

General Manager Jon Dummett with HRH Princess Alexandra

The new clubhouse at Glendale Golf’s Richmond Park has been officially opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra on 28th May 2014. The Queen’s cousin cut the ribbon at the clubhouse, which was built following a £3million investment from Glendale Golf.

The investment coincided with Richmond Park Golf Course’s 90th anniversary last year, and also provided a new driving range and academy courses, as well as a redevelopment of two 18-hole courses.

Jon Dummett, general manager of Richmond Park Golf Courses said: “The investment into the new courses, clubhouse and driving range is part of Glendale Golf’s long-term commitment to improving golf facilities in Richmond Park. Working in conjunction with the Royal Parks, one of the most important aspects of this project was sustainable building design and the use of renewable energy sources, which is especially important considering our green location.

“The newly-built driving range and four-hole academy course is also an important development, which will support our strategy to bring new people into the game from the local community.”

Welcome to Richmond Park Golf Course

Opened in 1923, Richmond Park Golf Course was heralded as a place where ‘artisans and royalty are equally welcome’.  90 years on and Richmond Park is now truly fit for a king, following a £3million improvements programme by Glendale Golf.

The impressive venue includes a brand new clubhouse, designed to literally blend in with nature with a roof made using acid grassland from the Park.  The eco-friendly building features an open plan coffee shop, bar & restaurant.  Floor to ceiling to glazing provides uninterrupted views across the golf courses, against the spectacular backdrop of Richmond Park’s 2500 acres.

June 2014 sees the re-opening of the Duke’s and Prince’s Courses following a major overhaul to improve the quality and layout of their 36 holes.  Furthermore, a covered Driving Range is now open, which is perfect for golfers wanting to improve and those who are new to the game.

These exciting developments are set to make Richmond Park Golf Course the premier golf venue in the South East.  Glendale Golf are celebrating the completion of the programme with an open weekend on 5th & 6th July, where everyone is welcome.
