Professional Tour comes to Windmill Hill Golf Centre
Windmill Hill Golf Centre is set to host its first professional golf tournament in nearly 25 years when the Thomson Tour hits the fairways on Monday 13 October.
The competition will see 50 professional golfers compete, including Windmill Hills’ own Head Professional Danny Poulter, Teaching Professional Mark Wall, and Professionals Sam Buss and Damian Woodward.
Hosting the Thomson Tour is a testament to the dedication of the team at the centre, run by Milton Keynes Council, who has worked hard to bring the course and facilities up a high standard worthy of hosting such an event.
Milton Keynes Council took over the running of the centre in 2013 to ensure it could remain open to local golfers. Since 2013 the club has grown in size and the quality of the facilities have improved greatly. Cllr Mick Legg, Cabinet Member with responsibility for leisure said: “It’s great news to hear that Windmill Hill Golf Centre is hosting a tournament of this stature. The centre is a valuable asset to Milton Keynes, enabling golfers to play on a high quality course locally. Good luck to everyone taking part.”
Since it’s conception 29 years ago, many of the Thomson Tour’s former members have gone on to make the European Tour and include some that have won major international honours along the way, including Ian Poulter, Simon Khan, Mark Litton and Daniel Brooks. Competitors play for the prize fund of their own money and could win £500.
