Youngsters turned out in force at the first two Junior
Enrolment Programme Open Days at Waterstock and
Mill Ride.
The enrolment programme, a pilot project set up by
the BB&O Golf Partnership with the aim of getting
pupils of local schools signed up as junior members of local
golf clubs, is headed by PGA professional Matt Beckett.
A five step development plan has been agreed by the
BB&O Golf Partnership, golf clubs, local schools and
communities to ensure more membership and scholarship
opportunities are created for boys and girls to become
junior members of golf clubs.
Beckett is working alongside the BB&O County Development Officers (Justine Lawrence and Sam Round) to guide all parties through the process, ensuring a smooth transition of school-based activities to golf club memberships.
Mill Ride is working with Charters School Sports Partnership and Waterstock with South Oxon School Sports Partnership.
Others signed up to the project include Blue Mountain, Badgemore, Bicester and Chesham.
All clubs are offering heavily discounted junior memberships in the first year with the club and then further assistance in future years.
All of the clubs that have signed are GolfMark accredited, or are at least working towards the accreditation. This means they are committed to providing good junior coaching and playing opportunities, a welcoming club environment and good child protection policies and procedures.

 Chipping Norton GolfMark Trophy - Saturday 15th May 2010
Seven Teams comprising of Adults and Juniors competed for the Annual GolfMark Trophy at Chippy on Saturday. The Teams were joined after 9 holes by' Junior Beginners' who played their part in the Texas Scramble format by use of their 'Drives' on two of the back 9 Holes.
The Competition was won by Paul Hancock, Alex Pitts, & Richard Whiston with 57 points from Richard Tew, Harriet Hancock & Chris Dyer, with 53 points.

HINKSEY WIN NOGC LADIES OPEN
A team led by former Hinksey Heights lady captain Christine Clark won the North Oxford Golf Club Ladies 2010 Open on Friday (16 April 2010).
Eighty-four players from 16 different clubs in the region vied for the prestigious title and the Hinksey winning team of Christine Clark, Sandy Witcomb and Tricia Wiley scored 87 points to win the stapleford three ball Alliance competition, where the two combined top scores were counted.

Davies is Kirtlington's master
Leighton Davies receives his green jacket and trophy from captain John Barr after winning the Kirtlington Masters.
Davies stormed to victory with a nett seven-under-par second round, which saw him beat Duncan Cooper by three shots.
