During August Whittlebury Park golf club will be
hosting 2 blind golf championships.

They are the:

World Blind Golf Championship on the 16th and 17th August
English Blind Golf Championships on the 19th and 20th August

To assist the event the co-coordinator Derek Sheridan has asked for 30 volunteers on each of the above days. The volunteers will be required to act as markers and to walk with the players.Hence it would be best if the volunteers came from a golfing background.

Please could you ask anyone at your golf club who is interested in helping out at the events to let either myself or Kirstie Jennings know.

I am on holiday from the 9th to the 22nd of August so the reply will need to go to Kirstie if it comes after the 9th.

Please could you encourage people to help out at this prestigious event for the county and also to aid its success.

Kind regards David Davis (County Development Officer)

FEATURED GOLF COURSE TURNBERRY
Ailsa Championship Course Venue for the Open
Championship 2009. Long regarded as one of the
finest courses in the world, the Ailsa came to
international prominence with the famous duel between
Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson over the four days of
the 1977 Open.

It was then, in brilliant sunny weather, that a
capacity crowd was treated to an exhilarating display
of golf from two of the best golfers the world has
ever known.

Scene of some of the most memorable moments in Open
history, the Ailsa Championship course is a legend in
the world game. Watson, Norman, Price; they've all won
The Claret Jug, golf's most coveted trophy here on the
Turnberry link. And another name will join them in the
summer of 2009 when the Open Championship returns to
the Ailsa.
