The prestigious Manor House Hotel and Golf Club, voted
one of the best 50 stay-and-play resorts in Britain, has
devised an imaginative new facility for enthusiasts who
come to play the championship course on the outskirts
of Castle Combe, Wiltshire's most famous medieval town.
To emphasise and maintain the convivial nature of the game
among small groups of golfers, a new dwelling is on offer
that can accommodate eight players who will still have
complete access to dining and bar facilities at the
Manor House Golf Club.
Called The Waterfall Lodge, it stands adjacent to the 18th green and only a brief stroll from the first tee of the enchanting tree-lined championship course that was designed by television pundit, Peter Alliss, acknowledged to be "the Voice of Golf".
The new facility which will open mid-August provides an ideal base for a small party of like-minded enthusiasts or society with four twin bedrooms, two showers, two toilets and a lounge complete with television and DVD. The concept essentially follows the time-honoured "dormy house" principle in that it allows players to reside close enough to the course and play as much golf as possible during their stay. And when not in use by golfers it can also be used as additional accommodation for wedding parties.
In addition to the privacy and freedom of The Waterfall Lodge during a golfing break, visitors can also book a table in the main hotel at the Michelin starred Bybrook Restaurant, famed for its use of rich local produce, as well as the Woodbury Restaurant in the clubhouse which was also voted the Best Clubhouse Restaurant in 2006.
The cost of the package is £99 per person Sunday to Thursday or £109 per person Saturday and Sunday and includes dinner in the clubhouse, bed and breakfast, use of the driving range and 36 holes, based on four sharing.
The Manor House resort stands in 365 acres of breathtaking Cotswold countryside and is ten minutes from the M4 motorway and therefore within comfortable access of Bristol, Bath and London.
