New intake on Student Amassador Programnme

The successful Student Ambassador Programme between the Bucks
New University and the BB&O Golf Partnership starts a second year with two new students,
Michael Whytock and Stuart Langlands.

Stuart and Michael (pictured right) were selected from a number of candidates at the
University to join the BB&O Golf Partnership on a work experience programme.

They will start in September 2010 and will work for the Partnership until they finish
their degree.

BBO Golf PartnershipLink-up with Bucks New University
The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Golf Partnership has linked up with Bucks New University on a Golf Ambassadors project. The project gives students with first-hand experience of the golf industry while providing the Golf Partnership with a skilled resource.


Harewood DownsHarewood Downs Academy
In accordance with the national trend, Harewood Downs could see a reduction in Membership numbers. In order to address the situation, they considered that there was a need to attract both men and lady novice golfers who, given time and encouragement, would be able to develop their game sufficiently to be able to obtain a handicap and with a view to then becoming a full Member of the Harewood Downs Golf Club.


BCLGA Logo Seniors Win Inter-County League
Bucks have won this year's Inter-County League, a series of matches between the five counties of our old South East Division. Having won all but one of their matches Bucks topped the table with three points. Berks, Herts and Oxon followed with 2 points with Hants on 1 point.

Our golf course, known as Stoke Poges, was
designed by Harry Shapland Colt. It was opened
in July 1908 and received immediate acclaim:-
“If there were no palatial mansion and no
beautiful gardens and grounds, the course itself
would take a great deal of beating anywhere
within thirty miles of London.

Colt, to whom belongs the credit of designing it,
has scored a great success and his reputation as
a green architect, already high, will be greatly enhanced
by this the latest of his works.” (Golf Illustrated, 1909).
