Widely recognised as being one of the loveliest hotels in UK and Ireland, Hintlesham Hall Hotel is a 21st Century haven of comfort and friendly professionalism within a Grade 1 Listed Elizabethan Manor House, found nestling in 175 acres of rolling Suffolk countryside.

Built in the 1570’s for Thomas Timperley, grandson of the 3rd Duke of Norfolk, Hintlesham Hall Hotel hides its true age behind the famous Georgian façade. Walk to the stunning rear of this beautiful building, however, and the brickwork confirms Elizabethan origins. The impact of the Georgians is seen also in the vertical sash windows and, inside, in several panelled bedrooms that contrast with their timbered neighbours, and in the soaring double height of the Salon. Earlier, Stuart period designers had put in an oak staircase and a now famous plaster ceiling, the locations of which are linked by the attractive Long Gallery.

The traditional tranquility of Hintlesham Hall Hotel is protected by the Park, the broad lawns to the front, the picturesque rear gardens and pond leading to the rose garden and the orchard beyond. A short stroll along the Laurel walk leads to Hintlesham Golf Clubhouse and its associated Championship PGA golf course.

The renowned herb garden, designed by Robert Carrier, is stunning both visually and aromatically in season and is a working garden, influenced as much by the Head Chef as by the Head Gardener.

The Estate is only a few minutes drive from major trunk roads and Intercity railway station and is justly well known for its tranquillity and excellence.

Hintlesham Golf Club, adjacent to Hintlesham Hall Hotel has a reputation for being friendly and welcoming. Set in 150 acres of tranquil Suffolk countryside, it boasts a 6,500 yard Par 72 golf course designed by Hawtree & Co and modified by Walker Cup Captain Peter McEvoy in 1989 and has superb practise facilities. The Golf Club has an architectural award winning clubhouse with a large decking area with a stunning view of the first hole. With spacious changing rooms, showers and towel hire, you should have everything you need to relax before or after your game of golf.

The course has changed considerably since opening and has matured gracefully with native trees lining the fairways now providing the definition and challenge for players of all abilities, while still providing a fair but enjoyable test for beginners and less accomplished players. Water comes into play on the 17th and 18th holes providing a stiff challenge but the Par 5 last hole also offers the chance for an eagle for the braver soul! The 4th hole is often described as the hardest Par 3 in Suffolk and measures well over 200 yards.

As well as a fabulous course, Hintlesham Golf Club has an excellent team of Professionals who can offer tips, advice or group/individual lessons. Or if you just need some new equipment, the pro shop stocks top quality brands including IJP, Galvin Green, Foot Joy, Green Lamb, Peter Millar and more. It’s an Aladdin’s Cave for keen golfers!
