Club Captain lands spoils at Caversham Heath
Club Captain Luis Mesqita and playing partner Carl Bache walked away with the PJP Cup at Caversham Heath.
Mesquita (12hcp) and Bache (8hcp) recorded a total of 47 stableford points off nine tenth handicap allowance, despite having a bogey on the last.
Runners-up were Chris Stacey (13hcp) and Colin Stoute (13hcp), on countback from Jim McGiveron (20hcp) and Andy Holmes (14hcp), both with 46 points. Stacey and Stoute bogeyed the 17th, but recovered with a par on the last while McGiveron and Holmes bogeyed the last after having a birdie on the 17th.
Peter King (14hcp) claimed the Division 1 honours in the Midweek Stableford, shooting halves of 24 and 18 points for a combined 42 point total. Runner-up was Mervyn Jones (18hcp) with 39 points (halves of 21 and 18 points, including a double bogey on the last hole). Third was Shaun Wharton (15hcp) with 38 points. After an eagle at the par 5 15th hole and a birdie on the 17th hole Wharton looked in prime position to clinch second spot, however, he bogeyed the last.
Division 2 winner was Joshua Wilde (20hcp), on countback from Michael Gennace (22hcp), both with 41 points. Both had halves of 19 and 22 points, but Gennace will be kicking himself after ending nil return, bogey. Third was Sarla Read (21hcp) with 39 points.
Twos were recorded by Peter King (8th hole) and by Julien Constans and Shaun Wharton (both on the 17th hole).
Kjersti Cannon (24hcp) won the Ladies Stableford with 36 points. Second was Angela Adamson (34hcp) with 35 points (including a nil return on the last!). Third was Sue Parcell (28hcp) on countback from Caroline Dover (28hcp), both with 34 points. Parcell ended nil return, bogey while Dover finished with two consecutive bogeys.
