Caversham Heath Golf Club News
Countback was needed to decide the winner in two of the three divisions in the Weekend medal at Caversham Heath last Sunday.
Jonathan Fleming (4hcp) took the nod in Division 1 from Christopher Humphreys (5hcp), both on nett 75. Third was Matt Sloper (6hcp), on countback from Matt Robertson (3hcp), both with nett 77. Fleming recorded two birdies and an eagle and hung on to clinch top spot despite double bogeying the last. Humphreys had double bogeys on both the 16th and 17th, but parred the last while Sloper had a bogey on the last hole. But spare a thought for Robertson who was in prime position standing on the 18th tee. However a triple bogey cost him dear.
Division 2 winner was Chris Stacey (15hcp), on countback from Matthew Evans (12hcp), both with nett 72. Third was Peter Holt (15hcp) with nett 74. Stacey recovered from a disastrous 6 over par score of 10 on the 9th hole to record six pars on the back nine. A bogey, double bogey finish almost saw him lose the top spot, but nearest rival Evans also bogeyed the last.
Adam Paul Baker (19hcp) claimed the Division 3 top prize with nett 71. Joshua Wilde (20hcp) was runner-up with nett 72 and third was Jane Weller (20hcp) with nett 73.
Twos were recorded by Christopher Humphreys (8th hole) and by Andy King and Joshua Wilde (17th hole).
Archie Smith (9hcp) took the honours in the Junior Medal with nett 82. Runner-up was Callum Peart (6hcp) with nett 84.
