Brookman and Dinsdale Share Top Spot At Radyr Pro-Am

The Radyr Pro-Am was a tale of two Richards. Creigiau’s Richard Brookman won his first pro-am for almost four years to share with experienced former PGA Cup player Richard Dinsdale (Asbri Golf).

They carded two-under-par 68 at the impeccable Cardiff course in an event supported by Glamorgan Telecom.

Brookman’s previous win was in the Exeter Charity pro-am in 2014. He picked up shots at the first, third, 13th and 14th holes while Dinsdale’s first win this season was triggered by birdies at the third, fifth, 13th and 18th.

The first Welsh event of the summer was dominated by home country players.  Matt Dearden  (Glamorganshire) and Craig Melding  (Neath) were joined by English interloper  Ross Langdon  (Brickhampton Court) in third on 69, the only other players to better par.

Langdon’s adventurous round included an eagle at the eighth, a hat-trick of birdies from the 12th and five bogeys.

Welsh trio Sion Bebb (Morlais Castle), Huw Williams (Pyle & Kenfig) and Toby Hunt (St Mellons) followed on level par.

Dinsdale also won the shotgun start team event with amateurs Nick Hughes, Allan Garley and Tony Hughes who returned  16-under-par 124.

Brookman’s trio of Kevin Moore, Malcolm Warby and Mario Roffi were two shots behind, beating the team led by Cennydd Mills (Mills Coaching) featuring David Thomas, Russell Theaker and Howard Fox on countback.
